Dental Veneers

The confidence you need in the smile you deserve

Smile with confidence

A confident smile attracts attention and gives you self-esteem.

It’s no wonder that the perfect smile has always been and always will be one of the most frequent requests in our chair. What has changed today is that we no longer accept perfect smiles at any cost on the altar of beauty. We want to be conservative and preserve as much dental tissue as possible. The market has answered this call and today we can redesign smiles in a minimally invasive way by placing veneers or dental lenses.

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are very thin veneers on natural teeth that allow you to beautify your smile by correcting the shape and color of your teeth. With the evolution of ceramics, this treatment has become very conservative, meaning that the tooth is prepared with as little wear as possible. When the thickness of the veneers is thinner than 0.5 mm, they are called dental lenses.

They can be placed on just one tooth, or on several, making a real smile make over.

Smile Test Drive

The first appointments are crucial to establishing a correct treatment plan. We need to listen to you and understand your doubts and expectations. We take photographs and make molds to analyze your bite. We carry out a complete assessment to detect possible carious lesions (cavities) or dental infections. Before any treatment, you need to perform thorough oral hygiene and ensure that your gums are healthy. After this first appointment, you will receive an indicative treatment plan and budget. If we opt for ceramic veneers, we send the models and photographs to the laboratory, where digital planning takes place: with the help of software, we design your most harmonious smile (Digital Smile Design). With this tool it is also possible to print out the 3D model of your new smile (the digital age at our advantage!). The second appointment is the Smile Test Drive, or mock-up. Patients love this appointment because now they can imagine how they will look with the veneers. Those who are undecided take the opportunity to take photographs that they can show at home. At the next appointment, we prepare the teeth and take impressions. This is the longest appointment, as it requires meticulous work carried out by the dentist. At the end of this appointment, you receive temporary veneers while we wait for the permanent ones. The real artist’s work takes place after this appointment, in the dental laboratory, where the dental technician makes the ceramic veneers. As no two smiles are the same, these veneers are characterized according to each patient. The use of different shades creates a natural effect. They look like real jewels. The next step is to try on the veneers. Once everything is as intended, the veneers are cemented onto clean teeth. Most of the time, the use of a nighttime relaxation drip is recommended to ensure the longevity of the work. Then it’s up to you to follow the instructions and light up the world with your smile!

FAQ

What are dental veneers and dental lenses?

Dental veneers are very thin veneers on natural teeth that allow you to beautify your smile by correcting the shape and colour of your teeth.

What material are they made of?

They are preferably made of ceramic, as they have superior quality, aesthetics and durability. Among ceramics, we can use feldspathic or lithium disilicate. The use of one or the other depends on each case and many factors have to be evaluated.
Composite resin veneers can also be made, but their use for this purpose has fewer indications. At Pura Dental Studio we favour ceramic veneers, as we believe they are incomparably more beautiful and gilded, which is why we only use composite resin as a long-term temporary material.

How do I know if I'll like my smile?
By digitally simulating and printing a model of the new smile, we can get a rough idea of what the teeth will look like. Another tool we use is the so-called Smile Test Drive, or mock up. This is nothing more than a temporary material over your natural teeth. This way you can see in your mouth what your smile would look like with dental veneers. Like the idea?

How are dental veneers/lenses made and how long does it take to carry out this treatment?

If you're thinking of getting married, or have another special date in mind for which you want to have a perfect smile, it's best not to leave the treatment to the last minute.

Although in most cases we can deliver a complete smile within a month, that time can vary greatly. This is an artistic endeavour, and we don't want to spoil it by rushing things. After all, it's your best smile at stake (and our signature).

How long does it last?

I know you've heard this before, but it's also true here: each case is different. How long they last will depend a lot on you, so do your homework and follow the instructions! This way your veneers can last an average of 10-15 years.

What care is needed for dental veneers?

The main care requirements are good hygiene of the teeth, with the correct brushing technique, flossing and mouthwash recommended by your dentist. The use of a myorelaxation tray (bruxism plate) is necessary in most cases. Attend regular dental check-ups and professional oral hygiene!

Is it possible to whiten teeth with dental veneers?

Yes, and much more than that: with veneers we can correct the shape of the teeth and even out the colour when there are several shades within the same smile.

I want dental veneers. How many teeth do I need to put them on?

It depends on the case and your wishes. We can place veneers on just one tooth, or work on the whole mouth, making a real Smile Make Over. When the complaint is disharmony, we usually work on the teeth that are visible when you smile.

My teeth are very worn. How can I restore them?

Short, worn teeth can give a less favourable appearance, which is why many patients ask for veneers, especially on the front teeth. In reality, this is a much more complex situation and often requires complete prosthetic rehabilitation. Why? When there is excessive wear, in addition to the impaired aesthetics, the vertical dimension of the occlusion is lost, i.e. there is not enough height between the arches to be able to simply lengthen the teeth with veneers. The mouth becomes smaller and looks older because of this loss. In these cases, we must first re-establish the vertical dimension, i.e. regain the bite height, and only after that can we place the veneers or dental crowns. In a way, it's physiotherapy, as we reposition the teeth and joints to their original position. These prosthetic rehabilitations take longer, on average we need 3-6 months for the patient to adapt.
